Sports & Social, Cary – An Incredible Sports Bar Experience in Fenton

Sports & Social at Fenton in Cary – nctriangledining.com

When it comes to sports, I watch pretty much anything and I’m a fan of most of them! So I was curious about the new Sports & Social coming to Fenton in Cary. And after months of stalking the construction and build-out, I was able to stop in for a preview event and party. Finding parking near the Sports & Social was pretty easy and as we walked over, a referee on stilts toddled by, 12 feet up in the air. I think we’re in the right place! Band music is blaring from the front of the building and now I’m really excited about what to expect! Here’s how my preview visit went at the new Sport & Social in Cary…

Sports & Social Cary has a premium spot in this shopping development, front and center on Fenton Gateway Drive in a stand-alone building. A sidewalk patio wraps around the front and left-hand side and it’s obvious that a lot of money was spent here. Step inside Sports & Social and you’ll immediately hit the hostess area up front and notice the bar to your left but further in, your eyes will get drawn to the immense “television screen” at the back bar! The reality is that Sports & Social has about 9 large screen TVs stitched together for a huge media wall, it’s really impressive and eye-catching. To the right, there’s also an elevated landing area that I’m pretty certain functions as their private events space.

As you head out to the side patio, you’ll start to run into the games at Sports & Social: beer pong and skeeball to start with. When you talk about the “Social” part of the name, it’s really focused on the variety of activities you’ll find at Sports & Social. The side patio opens up to a large space with a third bar which is pretty impressive for the business. Also on this side of the building, you’ll find the stairways to the second floor. There’s also an easily accessible elevator on the opposite side to move up and down between floors.

Head on up to floor #2 at Sports & Social and you’ll get a nice view of the entire space. The second floor wraps around the first floor and its super screen in a U-shaped configuration so it’s a bit smaller than the first. You’ll run into another long and stylish bar (TV screens overhead) which brings the count up to four for bars at Sports & Social! Up on the second floor, you’ll also find a unique shuffleboard zone, pop-a-shot games along with some video games.

At the far end of the second floor, you’ll also find a small live entertainment stage for bands. And oddly enough, from the 2nd floor at Sport & Social, you can mosey your way on over to the new PBR Cowboy Bar where you’ll find another bar and of course, a cool mechanical bull to test your riding skills! But that’s a story and blog post for another day.

Food at Sports & Social is focused on bar favorites like nachos, burgers, salads, and tacos. They also serve up a brunch menu on the weekend which is a bit basic. But overall, Sports & Social takes sports bars to another level in the Triangle. The closest comparison would be Tobacco Road Sports in Raleigh and Durham but Sports & Social takes the best of both locations (games, expansive patio) and ups the ante with a huge media wall. I’m excited to get back for another visit and I can imagine that Sports & Social will be packed for upcoming sports events like the upcoming Super Bowl, Stanley Cup championship, and Kentucky Derby. So congrats again Fenton Cary for bringing another cool and interesting business to the NC Triangle!
