So while I do write a food blog, sometimes I get a bit off track and especially when I run into something local and unique. As a supporter of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh, I was recently invited to a member preview of a new special exhibit: Exquisite Creatures. Not knowing what to exactly expect, I ordered two tickets (Adults: $10, Children: $6) and headed on over to W. Jones Street with a friend.

The Exquisite Creatures is pretty amazing! Watch a short presentation on artist Christopher Marley who has preserved and mounted a variety of wildlife and animals in all sorts of creative presentations. Note that the creatures used in the exhibit have died of natural causes and have been donated to the artist. The presentation of these animals, insects, and natural rocks is pretty amazing, colorful, and mesmerizing. You can also see the development of the artist through increasingly complex presentations of the creatures, pretty amazing work.

Overall I was pretty blown away by this exhibit and found it to be a worthwhile visit for an hour or two. What used to be somewhat creepy and crawly takes on a different form when on display here. So enjoy the Exquisite Creatures at NCMNS through March 2022 while you still can!
