April 22, 2016 by Ron Wen

If you enjoy food and eating like I do, I’m guessing you enjoyed Alton Brown and his Good Eats series which covered the science and the hows-whys behind how you cook and the techniques you use. So of course when I saw the email for the Museum of Life and Science’s Science of Eats event, I couldn’t resist and grabbed a couple of tickets. Up front and in person, you’ll get a chance to sample some great food from local Triangle food purveyors and get a better understanding of the science behind it all. This will be my first visit for the event so I’m not sure what exactly to expect but it looks like fun! Tickets are still on sale ($30 – $35 per person) if you’d like to join in on the eating on June 2nd, come on out! The official details are below…

The Science of Eats, June 2nd

Museum of Life and Science

433 W Murray Avenue

Durham, NC 27704

We are bringing sweet, sour, and science together for one grand night of eating and exploration. All of your favorite local food vendors will be on hand with samples while our friends from Duke, UNC, and NC State share the latest in food science research. Chat with local chefs and explore demonstrations and experiments on everything from what happens to your brain on sugar to how your genes affect your perception of flavor. Science loving foodies rejoice!

Still feel hungry after all those food samples? Hit the food trucks out front then burn off a few calories playing in two floors of interactive science exhibits.
