Eating Outdoors in Durham- Sunshine, Patios and Blue Skies

Best Patios and Outdoors Dining, Durham- Find some of the best spots in the Bull City for outdoors eating: Guglhupf, Tylers and more...

(Updated 6/15/15) Living in North Carolina makes you realize that all this great, warm weather makes for great patio and outdoors dining! Fresh air, sunshine, and a cool breeze combines for a fantastic dining experience, no matter what you’re eating. And out in the Bull City, you’ve got some great choices for getting some fresh air with your eats. Here are some of my favorite patios for dining in Durham!

Huge patio at Tobacco Road Sports in Durham- NC Triangle Dining

Over near the American Tobacco Campus, it’s easy to miss the inconspicuous Tobacco Road Sports Café. Located behind DPAC and next to the Durham Bulls ballpark, step inside and your bombarded with HD flatscreens and the latest sports events. But the real action is in back on the patio! Tobacco Road Sports’ patio overlooks the Durham Bulls outfield and is right above the big Blue Monster in left field, cool… So don’t lose track of the game, home-run balls will occasionally pepper the patio, heads up!

Night falls on the patio at Tyler's Taproom in Durham- NC Triangle Dining

Out at the American Tobacco Center you’ll find the Durham location for Tyler’s Taproom! Popular for DPAC shows, it also sports a lovely outdoor patio with strung overhead lighting, a bar and plenty of space for food, brews and more. Don’t miss their popular garlic fries which will linger with you for hours…

Large outdoor patio at Guglhupf in Durham- NC Triangle Dining

Guglhupf on 15-501 in Durham has a huge, wooden patio that stretches around the place. Famous for their baked goods, sandwiches and snacks, it’s hard to go wrong with a lazy afternoon or brunch spent out on their deck. But the place is super popular so parking in their gravel lot may be difficult.

Back patio at Parker & Otis in Durham- NC Triangle Dining

Parker & Otis is part sandwich shop, coffee shop and country store. The space is large so it would be easy to miss their beautiful polished wood patio in back. Luxurious and quiet, it’s a great place to enjoy a latte or lunch. And while Parker & Otis dishes out a great Elvis sandwich (peanut butter, banana, bacon), it doesn’t have public wi-fi, FYI.

Sidewalk and roof-top patio at the Pit in Durham- NC Triangle Dining

And finally, I’ve been dying to try the patio at the Pit in Durham. I’ve heard great things about their roof-top patio but have yet to visit, let me know if you do. Add in some que, ribs and hush-puppies and you’ve got happiness happening!

So there you go, some fantastic choices for some outdoors dining and patios in Durham. Don’t miss these great options now that summer is here in NC!

Great Outdoor Dining and Patios in the Durham!
