Yum is all I can think when someone says “burger” to me! There’s nothing like a well-seared patty of beef with melty cheese and some tasty sides. The Triangle has seen an explosion of burger choices ranging from Chuck’s to Corbett’s, Bull City Burger and more. Smashburger is a newer chain to the area with over 300 restaurants in a franchise model. Smashburger only uses fresh (never frozen) ground beef and also does some delicious shakes. I had the chance to visit the new location in N. Raleigh during a food blogger preview and came back for a re-visit once things settled down…

The first thing you’ll notice about Smashburger N. Raleigh is that it’s popular! Lots of kids and families milling about, the interior is a mix of yellow and reds with some nice padded seating and booths. Order counter on the right, the dining room here also snakes around on the left-hand side to a quieter back dining room. For our preview we were served the whole array of Smashburgers, ranging from a BBQ, bacon and cheddar burger, Swiss mushroom and truffle along with a buffalo and blue cheese chicken sandwich. Smashburger also does some seasonal flavors based upon location, like the Carolina burger below.

What you’ll immediately notice is the beautiful egg bun they use which looks like it comes from a bakery. Smashburger does a good job balancing meat and toppings for their burgers making for a hearty mouthful. I personally enjoyed the BBQ bacon cheddar along with the truffle burger.

Smashburger also does some excellent sides like garlic, rosemary dusted shoestring fries (Smash fries), haystack onions and fried pickles. Add in some semi-healthy salad options and you should be able to find something on the menu to please the family. And don’t forget the shakes! Choose from eight different types including salt caramel and nutterbutter.

While I’m not regularly up in N. Raleigh, Smashburger is a good meal and visit if you’re in the hood. Easy quick casual eats and a solid burger for families and more. So welcome to the Triangle Smashburger, from what I can see you’re already off to a smashing start!
