Spirits Pub & Grub in Cary Delivers Great Service and Food

Spirits Pub & Grub, Cary- An unassuming choice for good bar food, excellent service and sports if you're in the Chatham/Maynard area of Cary...

Over in the Little India section of Cary off of Chatham and Maynard you’ll find the quiet and discrete Spirits Pub!  I call it quiet because it doesn’t seem to draw a lot of attention to itself in terms of its location or its marketing.  But I had heard that Spirits was owned by the same folks as my Italian favorite, Daniel’s so I was hopeful.  While I had stopped in for a beer before, I had yet to do a meal there so it was time to change that!

From the outside, Spirits sports a dark brick exterior in an unusual, wedge shaped building.  Entrance in back, you’ll step into a long narrow space with a bar to your right along with two dining rooms to your left.  Decor is casual, bar-type furniture and there’s a sports bar feel to things with team pennants and TV’s with the game on.  We grab a table for six and our waitress is over in a jiffy to take our orders.  The menu here at Spirits is a mix of burgers, wings and sandwiches along with some entrees.  They also have a daily specials menu and we spy a couple of interesting items, including a Caribbean jerk sauce for wings.  So of course I can’t resist and order them up along with some beer cheese, mac n cheese.

It only takes 15 or so minutes for the food to come out for the table.  My wings are meaty, really well fried and sauced with a fruity spicy sauce on top, very nice!  And the mac and cheese is solid, served up in a ceramic platter and sprinkled with candied bacon.  Perfectly cooked macaroni in a flavorful cheese sauce, another excellent job.  Service at the table was excellent, cups were kept filled and she was on point for most everything.  Sort of what I’ve come to expect at Daniel’s, they train their staff well at both places.

When you put it all together, Spirits Pub does a very good job as a bar and restaurant.  A deep enough and interesting menu with some twists, comfortable space along with very professional service.  Since I don’t live or work nearby, I probably won’t come back here too often but it’s a good spot for bar food and more.  So thank you Spirits for a tasty and fun lunch!
